The Devon Rural Archive is situated in the heart of the Devon countryside in the grounds of Shilstone House just outside the historic town of Modbury.

There is ample, free parking on site adjacent to the building (no public transport within 2 miles). If you wish to visit the archive please follow the directions below and avoid using Sat Nav.

From Modbury:
Follow the A379 into the centre of the town and at the bottom of the main road turn into Brownston Street. If you are travelling from the west (Plymouth) Brownston Street will be on your left just beyond the zebra crossing. If you are travelling from the east (Kingsbridge) the turn will be on your right before the zebra crossing. Continue up Brownston Street and head out of the town, passing Traine Villas on the left. Take the second left signed Shilstone and follow the road passing Weeke Farm. At the T-junction turn right and after 200 yards right again between the stone gate piers of Shilstone drive and follow signs for DRA.  

From Cornwall and the west:
Exit the A38 at Ivybridge and follow the B3123 to Ermington. After passing Ermington Church on the right turn left down a small road just before a school sign. At the bottom of the road turn left onto the A3121 and take the second right signed Sheepham. Proceed up the hill to the crossroads and turn left following the sign for Shilstone. After approximately 1.5 miles turn right between stone gate piers into Shilstone drive and follow the signs for DRA.

From Exeter and the east:
Exit the A38 at Wrangaton, turn left at the T-junction and follow the A3121 to crossroads. Turn right and after a few hundred yards bear left behind the petrol station which is signed Shilstone. The drive is approximately 2 miles on the left and accessed between two stone gate piers. Once in the drive follow signs for DRA.
